What's Under the Hood

If you're striving for looks and fuel economy, the standard 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine is for you. Paired up with a four-speed automatic, it turns in 2015 EnerGuide fuel consumption numbers of 12.7 L/100km in the city and 9.1 L/100km on the highway, giving you big-time looks while keeping your fuel expenses small-time.

For those looking for power, the 2016 Dodge Journey offers an optional 3.6-litre Pentastar engine teamed with a six-speed automatic that cranks out 283 horsepower. It comes in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions and produces numbers of 14.2 L/100km city and 9.4 L/100km highway in front-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive version turned in 14.5 L/100km city and 9.9 L/100km highway in EnerGuide tests. Edmunds called the Journey "…solid on the open highway, even over rough surfaces".

A Trim Level for Every Need

Whether you want a memorable driving experience or you're looking to haul people and cargo into the woods, the 2016 Dodge Journey has a model to suit your lifestyle and budget. The base Canada's Value Package model comes with air conditioning, power windows, door locks and mirrors, push-button start, cruise control and a tilt-telescoping steering wheel. It also comes with Keyless Enter-'n-Go, halogen headlights and a six-speaker sound system. Storage bins are thoughtfully placed throughout the Journey as well, making it easy for you to stash a tablet or other items without them being seen by others.

There are seven other models to choose from. The SE Plus ups the ante with seven-passenger seating, air conditioning with tri-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and LED taillamps. Dodge's SXT trim offers 17-inch Tech Silver aluminum wheels, automatic headlamps and fog lamps, a security alarm and trip computer with temperature and compass readout, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Dodge's Limited model adds the Pentastar engine as standard along with a 10-way power driver seat with lumbar adjustment. It also has an 8.4-inch touchscreen for the Uconnect infotainment system along with a one-year subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. Heated front seats and steering wheel come too as well as 19-inch aluminum wheels, Bluetooth connectivity and remote start. The Crossroad FWD gives its driver leather-faced seats with sport mesh inserts and light slate grey accent stitching, black-accented headlamps, tail lamps and 19-inch aluminum wheels, in addition to the gear on the Limited.

The ferocious R/T AWD gives you premium sound with six speakers, a subwoofer and 368-watt amplifier, all teamed to create an exceptional audio system. It also has leather-faced seating, a rear-park assist system, and a performance-tuned suspension. Dodge's Rallye trim has black leather-faced seating with perforated inserts and red accent stitching, leather-covered steering wheel and shift knob, and a suspension tuned for performance. The king of Dodge's hill, the Crossroad AWD, combines all the equipment of the R/T plus platinum chrome inserts on the body-colour fascia, body-colour door handles, and platinum chrome treatments on the black lower sill and side roof rails.
