The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica
Have you written off the minivan as an uncool, dad-mobile that isn’t much to get excited about? Well, it’s time to flip the script on that line of thinking.
Everybody knows that the minivan isn’t the pinnacle of cool but is it the pinnacle of practicality? The family hauler has taken a bit of a beating in the past few years due to the rise of the SUV but 2021 may be the year that turns that trend on its head, due to one shining example of craftsmanship, quality and innovation in the minivan world: The Chrysler Pacifica.
Since Chrysler created the minivan segment nearly 40 years ago (under the Dodge and Plymouth banners, respectively,) it has sent no less than 15 million minivans out into the world. It may not be the coolest vehicle on the road but that’s 15 million of the most practical haulers out there that could have possibly been fabricated. Spacious, fuel-efficient and laden with sensible features, the minivan is the best bet for getting your family (and items) from A to B with ease.
Why you may ask, would anyone feel that it would be a reasonable suggestion that the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is the van that’s poised to put the minivan back into the spotlight this year? Let’s just say that there are more than a few reasons that the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica was awarded the honour of being named 2021 Best Minivan by autoTRADER.ca.
As a registered Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM and Fiat dealer, we have a few gleaming examples of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica on our North York and Caledon CarHub lots. We have been able to see the sleek styling, incredible attention to detail, and innovative upgrades that the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica has to offer firsthand.
A spin in this van had us convinced: the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is a minivan to watch. Don’t worry, we’re going to run you through some of the reasons that you should be excited about the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica.
Let’s get into it!
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is a streamlined version of the box-on-wheels that you may remember from the minivans of the past. Though trim does come into play, the 2021 Chysler Pacifica has seen a refresh with a slick, new, rounded front fascia that features sleek LED headlights and and a stylish, LED taillight that spans the width of the rear of the van. Minivan staples like power sliding doors and power liftgate abound but an added dash of panache is sprinkled onto the Pacifica when you consider the heated side mirrors, 20 inch alloy wheels and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Is the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, dare we say it, sexy?? It’s impossible to deny. This old-timer has gotten a glow up and we’re all about it. Chrysler is even pulling out the stops with innovative colours! The Fathom Blue Pearl paint option appears to shift colours before your eyes. Who’s uncool now??
Is it a coincidence that the 2021 Pacifica has some of the exterior styling of an SUV? Likely not. This van would give any SUV a run for their money in terms of looks and performance and we’re betting that it will take a bite out of the SUV market in the near future.
The stylish exterior of the 2021 shouldn’t distract from the updated interior, which elevates the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica to the level of best-in-class.
The updated Pacifica benefits from a new infotainment display that has expanded to 10.1 inches with the latest Uconnect 5 interface. This upgrade integrates Amazon Alexa into the infotainment stew and offers an available connection for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The home screen is completely customizable, which is nice if you’re the type who can get picky about your app placement.
The beautiful, Nappa leather seats will make for a styling and supple sitting experience and do wonders for the aesthetic of the Pacifica cabin.
Let’s be honest, if you’re in the minivan market, you’re probably going to have some whippersnappers in your whip at some point. The Chrysler Pacifica offers an interior camera system to help you keep an eye in the sky on those kids in the back seat who may be getting up to a whole lotta no good. No less than twelve USB ports in the cabin of the Pacifica will keep your devices charged up and ready for action.
What’s a minivan without cargo space? Well, it’s not a minivan worth your time, that much is for sure. No worries there when it comes to the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, however. Known for its roominess in the van department, the 2021 Pacifica will get you three rows of seating, with a whopping 41 inches of legroom up front and similar specs across the next two rows to let your passengers really stretch out and enjoy themselves while they ride in your Pacifica.
The cargo volume in the Pacifica is nothing to scoff at either. You’re looking at 32.3 cubic in the rear of the third row, 87.5 cubic feet behind the middle row and if you fold all of the seats down for maximum spaciousness, you’ve earned a massive 140.5 cubic feet of cargo space.
What would you even do with all of that space?? Whatever your hobbies or priorities, you’ll find the spaciousness you need to cart your items in the 2021 Pacifica.
From the base to the pinnacle (pardon the pun!) you’re going to get minivan excellence out of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica. Here’s a brief rundown of the specs within the Pacifica trims, and don’t forget that each of these models is available with AWD and a hybrid engine!

Under the Hood
There are two big-ticket news items for the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica: AWD and Hybrid integrations.
All-wheel-drive is now available on every trim level, from the base level Pacifica Touring to the top of the trims, the Pacifica Pinnacle, will undoubtedly give the would-be SUV buyer pause. AWD kicks up the towing capacity for the Pacifica and adds maximum stability in greasy road conditions ensuring the safe transport of your friends, fam and gear in this accomplished minivan.
The hybrid integration is also available across the entire trim line. The hybrid powertrain can detect when gas or electric power is best suited to your driving needs and switches automatically. The electric range will take you 51 kilometres and the gas engine distance is 788 kilometres, so all told you could safely assume that you’ll have the range between the combined powertrains to get where you need to go on a single tank.
The Pacifica packs more than enough punch to get you around town and on the open road with confidence and style. It comes with a 287-hp 3.6L V6 when it is not in its hybrid form. The hybrid drops some of the power at only 260 horsepower but kicks up your fuel economy and while lowering your environmental impact.
If you’re hauling around your most precious cargo in your 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, namely, your family, you’re going to want to make sure that the safety features in your vehicle are tip-top.
You’re in luck. The 2021 Pacifica was awarded a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Administration, AKA the NHTSA.
Small wonder! Standard features in the Pacifica include Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking, which brakes for pedestrians for you, Adaptive Cruise Control, which monitors your distance from vehicles that you share the road with, and Full Speed Forward Collision Warning, which will set off sensors if you are in danger of a collision and even go so far as to hit the brakes for you with Automated Emergency Braking to help you come to a full stop if you can’t manage that yourself.
The laundry list of emergency features also includes Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, Standard adaptive cruise control and lane-departure
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica feels like the minivan that we’ve been waiting for. Sleek new looks and upgraded features such as AWD options and innovations such as an option for a hybrid engine make this the van to beat this year. It’s not often that a minivan can cause this level of excitement in us but the writing is on the wall: the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is one of the most interesting vehicles to be released this year.
