FCA Brands at Los Angeles Auto Show 2018

Los Angeles Auto Show 2018

Each November, the Los Angeles Auto Show provides a glimpse at upcoming new vehicles, including those from the FCA brands. It's an exciting time for everyone here at North York Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, since we see what Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and Fiat models are coming to our dealership in the near future.

For the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, the FCA brands had a few exciting reveals. Instead of new cars or a minivan, what's coming are interesting SUVs. You might not look at the new Jeep Gladiator and Fiat 500X with fondness yet, but these will be unique to take for a test drive once they arrive. Read on to learn more.

2020 Jeep Gladiator

You already know and love the Jeep Wrangler, an SUV which has proven its legendary capabilities repeatedly. The Jeep Gladiator builds off that reputation and shares much of its design, but technically it's a midsize truck.

Just like the Jeep Wrangler, you'll be able to get the Jeep Gladiator with Command-Trac and Rock-Trac 4x4 systems, plus third-gen Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, electronic sway-bar disconnect, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential, and 33-inch off-road tires. It's built to really take you places, featuring up to 30 inches of water fording capability.

As a truck, the Jeep Gladiator excels. It can tow up to 7,650 pounds, so you can bring along a trailer, camper, boat, or whatever else for weekend fun. The five-foot payload can handle up to 1,600 pounds, perfect for loading dirt bikes, a four-wheeler, and more.

A true open-air experience is available with the Jeep Gladiator. You can remove the roof and doors, plus the windshield folds down. Jeep offers two hard top options and a soft top, so you have choices.

Jeep includes a 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 engine standard with stop-start. A six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission can be paired with it. You can add a 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V-6 in 2020. It will use the eight-speed automatic.

2019 Fiat 500X

If you're more interested in an Italian SUV, the new 2019 Fiat 500X looks great. It emphasizes efficiency and performance with a standard 1.3-litre direct-injection turbo engine. Peak output is exceptional at 177 horsepower and 210 lb.-ft. of torque.

All-wheel drive comes standard, which is a big help in winter.

Among the many cosmetic changes is new front and rear fascia designs, LED daytime running lights, standard LED taillights, optional LED headlights, plus three new exterior paint colours: Milano Ivory, Italia Blue, and Vibrante Green.

Fiat made some changes to the interior. You'll notice the seating fabrics are upgraded and new. Both the driver cluster gauges and steering wheel have new layouts. All models come with the Uconnect 4 multimedia centre with a 7-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, and front park assist.
